Channel Vision's Crescendo High Powered CAT5 Audio system distributes powerful, high quality audio throughout the home over standard CAT5 cable. Audio and IR control signals for the system are delivered via the CAT5, while the A0240 40 Watt Stereo Amplifier connects to a local power outlet to provide in-room amplification for each zone. The A0240 works with a special wiring interface wall plate, model A0302, to transport audio signals to and from the A0240. Volume control and source selection in each zone are provided by the A0125 Volume Control Keypad. An integrated IR receiver in the A0125 allows easy control of the source devices by using the original factory remote. The Crescendo components: A0125, A0240, and A0302 are backwards compatible with A-BUS hubs, making it easy to add power to an existing A-BUS system. The capabilities of the Crescendo system are mostly determined by the system hub. Channel Vision offers both single-source and multi-source hubs. The A0301 and A0313 can be used as primary system inputs feeding the main hub or as local input modules in each room to override the primary audio source. The A0301 is a generic input module which provides a standard L/R RCA input and the A0313 is an iPod docking station. These local input modules should be installed in the CAT5 line between the P-2014 and the A0125. Multiple input modules can be installed in one CAT5 run. If audio is present at more than one input module the unit closest to A0125 will take priority and be played through the speakers. A multi-source Crescendo system can be created with a P-2044 feeding to four rooms equipped with an A0125, A0302, A0240 and a pair of in-wall speakers. The source components can be controlled by pointing their remote control at the IR sensor in the A0125 keypad. The P-2044 allows any of the keypads to select any one of the 4 sources independently of the other keypads, making it perfect for households with a variety of listening tastes. Larger systems consisting of more than 4 zones can be created by adding a second P-2044. Use RCA ‘Y’ connectors to split the audio sources into both units. Use the provided ribbon cable to connect the “Link” terminals. This will allow IR signals received through one P-2044 to be transmitted to the other P-2044 The single-source Crescendo hub (model P-2014) can be integrated together with the multisource Crescendo audio matrix (model P-2044). The keypads connected to the P-2014 will act as subzones to the P-2044. which is perfect for common areas such as hallways, bathrooms, kitchen, or dinning room. For this kind of system, all of the A0125 keypads should be configured for multi-mode. Before exploring the various applications involving the A0240 and A0302, it is helpful to understand the details of these two products. The A0240 is a 2-channel 40 Watt class D amplifier. It can be used to power a small 1-room audio system or integrated with Channel Vision’s A0302 to provide supplemental power to low power distributed audio systems. It’s compact size makes it easy to hide and its versatile power plug allows direct wall plug-in or tabletop operation using the detachable power cable. With its easy installation and operation, the A0240 is perfect for any audio system that just needs a little more power. The A0302 is a wall plate designed to convert speaker level audio to line level making it suitable for connecting to another amplifier. This is the ideal way to re-amplify whole-house audio systems that need a little extra power. The output of the A0302 can also be switched to mono mode making it perfect for feeding a powered subwoofer. The decorator-style design and screwless trim plate allows it to blend with other modern outlets and wall switches. The A0302 can be used to provide a line-level output suitable for feeding into a powered subwoofer. This application can be applied to generic distributed audio systems as well as A-BUS systems. The A0302 is the perfect complement to Channel Vision’s A0240 amplifier. It can utilize the Amp-Link connection, which provides a clean way to interrupt the speaker-level audio from a low-power system and output 40 Watts per channel to the speakers. In the example below, the A0302 taps into the speaker-level audio signal coming from the AB-124 keypad and providing a line-level output to feed the A0240 while still allowing a pair of speakers to be powered by the AB-124. This allows the A0240 to power a second set of speakers. This arrangement would work well in a listening area that needs a second set of speakers that are proportionally louder than the first pair. If both speakers need to be heard at equal volume, you can connect two sets of speakers to the output of the A0240 using a series parallel wiring configuration In addition to increasing power of a distributed audio system, the A0240 can also be used to interrupt a the whole house audio source and amplify a local source device. When using this application you will use the volume controls on the Local source audio device to change the volume coming from the in-wall/in-ceiling speakers. Portable music players and TVs are often used as local source devices. |
