Question: I have five VC-302 volume controls installed in my home. Over the last 12 months, the quality of control has degraded significantly. The left and right channels often cut out at various points when adjusting volume. I assume the potentiometers have become oxidized.
How do I resolve this issue?
Answer: 1). If volume is cutting out randomly, it would lead me more into the wire strands touching together at the VC302 phoenix connectors. Second thought is measuring ohms at the speaker to confirm 8ohms with the speaker disconnected.
2). Should the volume rotation not be consistently stepping into each click, leaving a loose sloppy feel to the volume, it would need to be replaced. This would take either outdoor installation or significant rotation daily for years.
